Another week, another show! Milan Fashion Week has come to an end and it is time to analyze the looks straight from the runway as well as the street style we have seen this week. Milan Fashion Week was especially surprising to our team, as it incorporated many Fall/Winter staples reinvented in bright colors.
Here are the trends we have picked from Fashion Week:
Accessories in general were very unique in this edition of the Milan Fashion Week, but none were was bold as the big hats chosen by several stylists. The pieces were often bright colored, acting as a statement accessory in the looks they adorned.
It is not often that we see knee socks and stockings in the Spring/Summer fashion shows. However, many designers opted to add sheer and thin stockings and socks to their looks, giving their creations an edgy and moody energy to them.
Tennis skirts filled every “It Girl’s” wardrobe last year, so it is no surprise that the designers filled the runway with pleated skirts. These pieces, however, were much longer than their trendy counterpart from last year; some reached the knee, others were long enough to hit the floor.
Following Milan’s long tradition of creating beautifully tailored pieces, Fashion Week designers showed many pieces that had a perfect odd balance between Summer and Winter. Bulky and padded on the shoulders, the tailored suit pieces were often bright colored, though some leaned towards cool, heavy colors. Certainly the goal seems to be, to wear these classic pieces all year round.
