The world of fashion has its eyes on Seoul. South Korea’s fashion industry is still very young, and Seoul Fashion Week was only established in 2015. Its bi-annual event attract massive media to cover the city’s fresh talent, unique street style, and the general enthusiasm about fashion, that other fashion venues seem to be losing.
The Seoul consumer is incredibly driven by trends, as the fashion market takes fast fashion as its main business model. Many designers have two branches that represent their labels: their creative brand, and a more commercial diffusion of that brand identity, which is usually presented as collections in stores. The city is also young in population, which is the reason why so much of the street style fashions are filled with hoodies, logos, denim, and graphic t-shirts. The bigger market share of these young consumers, who are not willing to pay for expensive foreign designer products, are provided with the local industry’s response in providing very trendy, quality pieces at a fair price.
Among this seasons trends are animal prints, tailored jackets, and lots of denim! Check out our favorite looks from the streets of Seoul.
